چکیده

conclusions despite the complications of fixation with the dhs device, it remains the most successful for treatment of intertrochanteric fractures. background according to the existing literature, the dynamic hip screw (dhs) is the preferred standard for the treatment of intertrochanteric fractures. however, some surgeons use other devices such as the locking compression plate (lcp). objectives in this study, we compared the outcome of using dhs or lcp in intertrochanteric fractures. materials and methods this cross-sectional study was carried out on 104 patients who were referred to pursina hospital in rasht, iran with intertrochanteric fractures of the femur treated with either the dhs or lcp devices. demographic features, existence or nonexistence of stability and operating time were obtained from questionnaires. during a 6-month follow-up after surgery, patients were interviewed to record variables such as harris hip scores and complications. the patients were also interviewed on their final visit (between 9 and 31 postoperative months). the collected data was analyzed using spss. results we discovered that the number of incidences of limb shortening and device failure was higher for patients treated with the lcp device (p = 0.048 and p = 0.014). patients treated with the dhs device had higher harris hip scores for both the 6-month postoperative and the final evaluation visits (p = 0.01 and p = 0.018).

Fixation of Intertrochanteric Fractures: Dynamic Hip Screw versus Locking Compression Plate

MATERIALS AND METHODS This cross-sectional study was...

Proximal femoral locking plate versus dynamic hip screw for unstable intertrochanteric femoral fractures.

PURPOSE To compare the outcome in patients who underwent surgery for unstable intertrochanteric femoral fractures using the proximal femoral locking plate versus the dynamic hip screw (DHS). METHODS 15 men and 5 women aged 32 to 78 (mean, 55) years were randomised to the proximal femoral locking plate group, whereas 14 men and 6 women aged 38 to 75 (mean, 59) years were randomised to the conv...

Percutaneous compression plating versus compression hip screw fixation for the treatment of intertrochanteric hip fractures.

Percutaneous compression plate (PCCP) devices are used for the fixation of intertrochanteric hip fractures by a minimally invasive technique. One hundred and eight patients who underwent this procedure were retrospectively compared with 155 patients who underwent compression hip screw (CHS) fixation. The general characteristics of the two groups, including age, sex, side of injury and co-morbid...

Dynamic hip screw blade fixation for intertrochanteric hip fractures.

PURPOSE To assess the one-year outcome of a dynamic hip screw (DHS) blade in the treatment of AO/OTA 31-A1 and 31-A2 intertrochanteric hip fractures. METHODS 35 men and 65 women aged 47 to 100 (mean, 83) years underwent fixation with a DHS blade for A1 (n=47) and A2 (n=53) intertrochanteric hip fractures after a low-energy injury. Patients were operated on within 48 hours of admission. Antero...

Salvage of failed dynamic hip screw fixation of intertrochanteric fractures.

Twenty-six patients with failed dynamic hip screw fixation of intertrochanteric fractures were included in this study. The mean age of the patients was 61 years (range, 38-84 years). Average limb shortening was 2.4 cm; 18 patients were treated with revision internal fixation and eight patients with prosthetic replacement. The decision depended on the physiological age of the patient, quality of...

Results of Intertrochanteric Fractures Fixed with Dynamic Hip Screw Fixation

Numerous internal fixation devices have been used to stabilize intertrochanteric fracturesWe have analyzed the results of the intertrochanteric fractures treated with dynamic hip screw fixation. 33 patients (13 males, 20 females) were included. Range of age was 50-90 years, right side involved in 21 cases whereas left side in 12 cases and classified according to Boyd and griffin classification ...
